  1. Cell lines, fetal tissues and DNA samples availables.

    Several cases of human genetic diseases have been collected from the linked laboratory and from many other centres throughout Italy.
    The most represented pathologies are: Down syndrome and other chromosome aneuploidies, Fragile X syndrome, n.d. mental retardation, a and b thalassemia, cystic fibrosis, skeletal dysplasias, Cri du Chat syndrome, deafness and chromosomal structural rearrangement.

  2. EBV and IL-2 transformation service.

    The GGB offers an EBV or IL-2 transfomation service from peripheral blood lymphocytes. A minimum
    of 10 ml of blood in sodium heparin tubes is required and should arrive at GGB as soon as possible after sampling, preferably within 48 hours.

  3. DNA and RNA extractions from blood, tissues and cell lines.

  4. Characterization of cell lines by karyotyping and in situ hybridization.

  5. DNA polymorphisms analysis.

  6. Storage

    • cell lines are stored in liquid nitrogen (-180°C) in cryopreservation vials containing freezing medium
      (growth medium with 25% FBS and 10% DMSO or glycerol);
    • tissue samples are stored in liquid nitrogen (-180°C) in freezing speciment vials;
    • DNA samples are stored at +4°C in 1X TE buffer.
